HDFC Bank announced on Monday that its advances increased by 14.4 per cent to over Rs 11.47 lakh crore as of June 30 this year. Domestic retail loans increased by 10.5 per cent year on year by the conclusion of the first quarter of the current fiscal year, while domestic wholesale loans increased by roughly 17 per cent.
Retail loans rose by about 9 per cent from June 30, 2020 to June 30, 2021, and fell by around 1 per cent from March 31, 2021 to March 31, 2022. "The bank's advances aggregated to approximately Rs 11,475 billion as of June 30, 2021, a growth of around 14.4 per cent over Rs 10,033 billion as of June 30, 2020, and a growth of around 1.3 per cent over Rs 11,328 billion as of March 31, 2021," HDFC Bank said in a regulatory filing.
Commercial and rural banking loans increased by around 25 per cent from June 30, 2020, and by about 4 per cent from March of this year. Other wholesale loans increased by about 10.5 per cent in June compared to the same month last year and by about 1.5 per cent in March 2021.
Retail disbursements were at Rs 43,600 crore (Rs 436 billion) in Quarter 1 of Fiscal Year 22, increasing 202 per cent from the previous quarter. However, in the quarter ending March 2021, it was down 30 per cent from Rs 62,500 crore (Rs 625 billion). The home loans acquired from parent firm HDFC Ltd were included in these retail disbursements.
As of June 30, 2021, the bank's deposit base has grown by 13.2 per cent to Rs 13.46 lakh crore (Rs 13,460 billion). In March 2021, it was up 0.8 per cent from Rs 13.35 lakh crore (Rs 13,351 billion).
Retail deposits increased by approximately 16.5 per cent year over year and by around 3.5 per cent in March, while wholesale deposits were constant compared to June last year but fell by over 10 per cent in March this year, according to the bank.
"During the quarter ended June 30, 2021, the bank purchased loans aggregating Rs 5,489 crore (Rs 54.89 billion) through the direct assignment route under the home loan arrangement with Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited," it added.
HDFC Bank's stock was trading at Rs 1500.95 a share on the BSE, up 1.35 per cent from its previous close.
