Hope Union Budget Will Fulfil Dreams of Indians: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was speaking ahead of the Budget session 2024

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation ahead of Parliament's Budget session on Monday. The Prime Minister said that he hopes the Budget will fulfill the dreams of Indians and set a roadmap for the next five years.

Speaking ahead of the session which began today, the Prime Minister said, "Today's budget will decide the direction for the next 5 years of our term. This budget will also become a strong foundation of our dream of Viksit Bharat."

The session will be underway till August 12 during which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2024. Ahead of the budget, the government is also expected to present the Economic Survey. PM Modi called the budget an important part of the Amritkaal. "The country today has a positive outlook towards growth and development," he said.

In financial year 2024, Indian economy grew by 8.2 per cent on the back of strong momentum in manufacturing and construction sector.

During his address, the Prime Minister took aim at the opposition to call out their "negative politics." He called for unity to ensure a fruitful session. He said, "I would like to request all the MPs of the country that from January till now we have fought as much as we had to, but now that period is over, the public has given its verdict. I would like to ask all the parties to rise above party lines and dedicate themselves to the country and use this dignified platform of Parliament for the next 4.5 years."

He also criticised the opposition for "trying to suppress his voice" during his address in the last session. Opposition is expected to raise several issues which include NEET paper leak, UPSC controversy and the vacant deputy speaker position.
