The launch comes at a time when the competition is heating up in the realm of e-commerce as more businesses are exploring ways to enter in the sector. BB Matrix hopes to offer supply chain solutions to cut costs and increase productivity that the industry needs.

BB Matrix would help forecast inventory, stock replenishment, storage, payments, delivery and returns while providing real-time updates and identifying bottlenecks. It would also enable users to make data-driven decisions, which is required to build resilient supply chain processes.

Speaking about the launch, Rakshit Daga, CPTO & Head of SaaS Business, Bigbasket said, “To cater to the pressing demand for agile, robust, and cost-efficient supply chains, we have made BB Matrix available to enterprises across different sectors that go beyond retail and e-commerce, like manufacturing, automobiles, aviation, consumer goods, etc.”

The Bangalore-based e-commerce firm was co-founded in 2011 by V. S. Sudhakar, Hari Menon, V. S. Ramesh, Vipul Parekh and Abhinay Choudhari. In 2021, Tata acquired a 64 per cent majority stake in the company through its digital subsidiary.

Bigbasket raised $200 million in January 2023 from its investors including majority shareholder Tata, taking the company's valuation up to $3.2 billion. Despite being taken over by Tata, the e-commerce platform continues to operate as a separate entity within the diversified conglomerate.

The company operates in more than 30 cities in India and processes around 15 million orders a month, as of January 2023

As per various media reports, Bigbasket is planning to go public with its initial public offering, as part of its growth plan, in 2025.
