This move may indicate the end of the work-from-home trend in the country's tech sector. The implementation of this return to the office is happening through verbal and informal communication channels in IT/BPM and some technology companies nationwide, according to ET.

The industry is experiencing a client demand shortage due to the global macroeconomic crisis, which is affecting tech spending.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had earlier sent an informal message to their employees to start working from office. Such communications have been made by multiple IT companies in the country's tech sector hubs of Pune and Bengaluru.

Multinationals such as Sweden-based Ericsson and American Financial services firm Fiserv have asked their workers to work from office at least three and five days a week, respectively. This schedule has to begin between the months of October and November.

The work from home trend has continued in tech companies ever since the pandemic began.

According to sources, employees of the French IT company Capgemini in India are currently required to come into the office three times a week. However, the company's senior management has requested that managers explore the possibility of having team members come into the office for all working days.

Capgemini's CEO, Aiman Ezzat, has stated that the company will consider the personal situations of employees and will not force them to return to the office abruptly.

The move to return to office comes after almost three years of hybrid work which was adapted after the pandemic began.

Reports suggest that firms are not forcing a complete work from office mandate since they fear from employees.
