LinkedIn layoffs have impacted over 700 employees as the Microsoft-owned company sacked 716 people
LinkedIn layoffs: In an ironical set-up of jobs and layoffs, Microsoft-owned professional network LinkedIn has reportedly sacked over 700 employees. As per updates, LinkedIn has announced that it would lay off 716 people and phase out its local job apps in China.
According to a Reuters report, LinkedIn layoffs come at a time when the company has around 20,000 employees. While the layoffs centred around 700 employees, make a small percentage of the workforce, the announcement by the company has come as a major shock.
The report adds that LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky said, "As we guide LinkedIn through this rapidly changing landscape, we are making changes to our Global Business Organisation (GBO) and our China strategy that will result in a reduction of roles for 716 employees."
In addition to this, the move of layoffs at LinkedIn in the sales, operations and support teams was also reportedly aimed at streamlining the company's operations and would remove layers to help make quicker decisions. However, the report adds that the CEO also said that LinkedIn would also add about 250 new roles and all the people affected in this round of LinkedIn layoffs, would also be eligible to apply.
Alongside the LinkedIn layoffs, the company has also reportedly decided to phase out InCareer, its local jobs app in China by August 9, 2023. However, it will retain some presence in China to help companies and serve other purposes.
