Ratan Tata, Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus, is no more. The industry stalwart passed away on Wednesday, October 9.
In a statement released to media, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons wrote, "It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation."
Chandrasekaran also highlighted that for the Tata Group, Tata was more than a chairperson. He added, "To me, he was a mentor, guide and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass."
This comes after recent news reports that highlighted that the industrialist was admitted in Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital. Reports indicate that he was in the intensive care unit and battling critical conditions.
Recently, Tata posted on social media that he was in good health. Taking to social media platform X, he highlighted, "I am aware of recent rumours circulating regarding my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are false." He further mentioned that he is going through medical check ups that is related to his age and medical conditions.
Shortly after his passing, netizens expressed their condolences. Harsh Goenka, Chairman - RPG Enterprises, wrote on X, "The clock has stopped ticking. The Titan passes away. #RatanTata was a beacon of integrity, ethical leadership and philanthropy, who has imprinted an indelible mark on the world of business and beyond. He will forever soar high in our memories."
While highlighting that Tata was a beacon of integrity, ethical leadership, another social media user wrote that this is an end of an era. Even though Tata, stepped down as chairman in 2012, he held the honorary title of chairman emeritus for Tata Sons, Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, and Tata Chemicals.
