Electric vehicle maker Ultraviolette Automotive today announced the launch of its new e-motorcycle ‘F77 Mach 2’ at its factory in Jigani Industrial Area, Bengaluru. The new product is an updated version of Ultraviolette's previous model, the F77, which was launched more than a year ago.
The F77 Mach 2 goes from 0 to 60 kmph in 2.8 seconds, as opposed to the 2.9 seconds taken by the older model. The newly launched version also clocks 0-100 kmph in 7.7 seconds. It comes with a better IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 323 km compared to its predecessor’s 307-km range.
Global Market Entry
The company has announced its foray into the global market with its entry into Europe in the second quarter of 2024. Ultraviolette will also expand its retail presence in 2024 across 17–20 cities, including Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Guwahati.
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 comes with 10 levels of regenerative braking that capture and store energy that would otherwise be lost during braking. The previous model had only three levels of regenerative braking.
The e-bike comes with ‘Delta Watch', a feature that alerts the rider if the bike experiences movement, fall, or towing. The company provides a warranty for up to 8 lakh km under its Ultraviolette Warranty Program.
Its vehicle control unit will be able to collect 3,000 data points every second across various parameters such as temperature, voltage, current, and performance and optimize the riding experience by giving real-time feedback to the riders using its Violette AI platform.
The delivery of the F77 Mach 2 will start in May 2024, and the pre-bookings opened at 4 p.m. on Wednesday with a Rs 5,000 advance. The bike will be available for its first 1,000 customers at an introductory price of Rs 2,99,000.
The electric vehicle market is booming in India. A report by Counterpoint, a research firm, says that in 2024, India’s electric vehicle sales are expected to increase by 66 per cent. Similarly, a report titled ‘India Electric Vehicle Market Overview 2023' by Customized Energy Solutions says that the annual volume of EV sales is likely to touch 27.2 million units by 2032. The government, in its push towards EVs, has also decided to put together a task force that will create a road map for the industry. Ultraviolette will face competition from remaining EV vehicle companies, including Revolt Motors, Tork Motors and Oben Electric.
