Universal Remote Control

Many older Android devices came with built-in infrared port, which could be used to control your TV, cable set-top box, or DVD/Bluray player. Just download an app like IR Universal Remote (Android) to turn your device into a universal remote control to control all your devices from one app. No infrared blaster? There’s still hope, with third-party accessory makers making external infrared blasters that connect to your phone via Bluetooth. If you have an Apple TV, your old iPhone can be used as an alternate remote too.
