According to a report in the Economic Times, tech giant Amazon layoffs, after impacting people in several other countries, have come to impact people in India. More so, Amazon has resorted to these job cuts across different businesses and functions including Amazon Web Services (AWS), human resources (HR) and even support functions.

The report adds that this round of job cuts at Amazon India has not ended yet and still ongoing. It is also reportedly a part of the additional Amazon layoffs announced by CEO Andy Jassy in late March, which affected close to 9,000 employees world over.

While most functions at Amazon have been impacted by these layoffs, the report adds that some seller onboarding functions in some tier-2 cities like Kochi and Lucknow have also been shut down as a part of the bigger restructuring process.

Amazon layoffs, as reported, are the second round of job cuts by the Jeff Bezos-led tech giant in the season of mass layoffs. As the world economy continues its battle with a global economic downturn and recession fears, Amazon India layoffs come as a shock for many.
