Apple Layoffs: iPhone Maker May Make Small Job Cuts In Corporate Retail Teams, Says Report

Apple Layoffs: These job cuts at Apple are being positioned as a streamlining effort, rather than layoffs

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is cutting jobs in its ‘development and preservation teams’. It adds that these groups are also responsible for the construction and upkeep of all Apple retail stores and many such facilities that are present around the world.

However, while some media reports suggest that Apple has started these layoffs, others mention that the move has not been made public yet. In addition to this, it couldn’t be ascertained as to how many positions will be eliminated through this round of layoffs at Apple.

Interestingly, the report adds that these job cuts at Apple are being positioned as a streamlining effort, rather than layoffs. It also reportedly informed employees that the changes in the company were all designed to improve the upkeep of stores globally. In case some workers get affected, Apple will also reportedly provide support to them.

Overall, Apple has been one of the few tech companies that have not indulged in mass layoffs. Before this, some reports suggested that Apple has laid off some contractual workers only and even these layoffs were very small in number. Unlike the iPhone maker, several of its peers like Google, Amazon, Microsoft etc., have laid off employees in large numbers.
