In a major development to the on-going Twitter Blue paid subscription saga, the Elon Musk-led social media platform has announced something for the 'legacy blue ticks.' Through an official tweet, Twitter has said that from April 1, all legacy verified checkmarks will be removed. This means that all the accounts who had a blue tick/verified checkmark before the launch of Twitter Blue will have to lose their verified status. However, there is a catch!
While Twitter has announced the removal of 'legacy verified checkmarks,' it has also given a loop as to how these accounts can keep their blue tick intact. And as expected, the answer is simple - subscribe to Twitter Blue!
Sharing details, the official announcement also adds that if a legacy Twitter Verified account wants to retain their blue tick, they must subscribe to Twitter Blue before the dealine or lose out on the checkmark. It reads, "On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue here: ...."
In addition to this, Twitter has also reminded all organisations with a blue tick to sign up and subscribe to Twitter Blue as well if they want to keep their blue tick. However, the link for the same is different.
