Addressing the session on semiconductors and electronics, Vaishnaw said, "Gujarat is developing a green power cluster of 30,000 MW. To put this into context, the world's largest cluster has a capacity of 5,000-7,000 MW. Investors in the sector should take note of this opportunity."

The minister added that the next million talents in the semiconductors space will come from India as the government and industry players are working on developing a future-ready workforce. "I would request Micron to collaborate with IIT Gandhinagar to set up a Centre of Excellence which will help in building a robust talent pipeline," he said.

Given the developments happening in the sector, the Minister said that the natural choice of investors should be Gujarat to tap into the advantages provided by the state.

Semiconductors have been the center of attention at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, aligning with the theme of "gateway to the future". On Wednesday, Tata Group had announced that it is close to announcing a semiconductor fab unit in Dholera, Gujarat by the end of 2024. South Korea's Simmtech, which develops PCBs for semiconductors, also announced a Rs 1,250 crore in the state at the event.
