JioCinema has announced subscriptions plans for premium content in India at a price of Rs 999. Blame it on the high-octane IPL series or the competition, Jio is expanding its content library, offering users access to exclusive shows from prominent studios like Warner Bros and HBO content. The latest HBO programs, such as The Last of Us, House of the Dragon, and Succession, are available for streaming on JioCinema Premium. However, IPL streaming will continue for free, along with recently added Bollywood films such as Vikram Vedha.

Last month, Viacom 18 made a major buzz after it signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar content deal with Warner Bros Discovery that would allow JioCinema to stream HBO, Max Original and Warner Bros content in India. 

Talking about the premium plan, the JioCinema will complete against the likes of big fishes in the market like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar.

Subscription Plans For Premium Content (JioCinema vs Netflix vs Amazon Prime Video vs Hotstar)

The JioCinema Premium subscription plan is placed a little cheaper than the others in the market. The Jio premium annual subscription plan will cost you Rs 999.

Netflix does not offer any annual subscription plan. The monthly mobile plan is priced at Rs 149, the basic monthly plan is priced at Rs 199, the standard monthly plan will cost your Rs 499 and the Premium monthly plan will cost you Rs 649.

Amazon Prime Video annual subscription plan is priced at Rs 1499, while the monthly plan at Rs 299.

Disney+ Hotstar premium annual subscription plan is available at Rs 1499 and the ad supported Super plan is priced at Rs 899 annually.

The JioCinema premium subscription plan will allow users to stream content on 4 devices simultaneously. You can stream content across all devices including TV, tablets, smartphones and many more. It also offers upto 4K resolution. 

Netflix plans differs country wise. In India the mobile only plan is accessible on smartphones only that too one screen at a time. The Basic plan allows users to stream across all devices but just one device at a time. Netflix offers content in HD resolution. The premium plan lets subscribers to stream on 4 devices simultaneously in upto 4K resolution. 

Amazon Prime Video allows annual premium plan subscribers to stream on up to 3 devices simultaneously and offers 4K resolution. The Rs 599 plan offers SD resolution.

Disney+ Hotstar premium plan lets subscribers stream on 4 devices simultaneously in up to 4K resolution. The Rs 899 plan offers 1080p resolution with streaming on  2 devices simultaneously.

The Clash of Content (JioCinema vs Netflix vs Amazon Prime Video vs Hotstar)

The JioCinema has gained major viewership in India because of the ongoing IPL 2023 free live streaming. After the major deal with Warner Bros and HBO, it now offers HBO originals which are already famous like GoT, House of Dragon, and the The Last Of Us, along with Warner Bros Studio including Harry Potter series, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman vs Superman and the Justice League. 

Post the exit of HBO from Disney+ Hotstar, the USP for Hotstar is Marvel films and series. Netflix has tonnes of original content, docuseries, Stand-up comedy shows and reality shows as well.
