Indian Railways To Operate Special Vande Bharat Trains For India-Pak Tie

Indian Railway announced the move to ease travellers expenses amidst high air ticket costs

Indian Railways will be running special Vande Bharat trains to Ahmedabad for the India versus Pakistan ODI Cricket World Cup match. The high stakes match between the cross border rivals is going to be held on 14 October.

The move comes as a relief to cricket lovers slated to watch the match as they deal with soaring air ticket and hotel accommodation prices, according to News18.

According to sources, special trains will be running from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra with a stop at both Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations, which are in close proximity to the Narendra Modi Stadium.

In regards to the train schedule, a top official informed that the trains will arrive in the city just a few hours before the start of the game. This decision was made to address concerns about costly travel and limited, expensive accommodations.

Regarding the special trains, an official stated that their purpose is to provide a means of transportation for spectators after the game. To enhance the travel experience for cricket fans, the railways plans to play patriotic music, showcase past cricket matches between India and Pakistan, and offer special merchandise.

India and Pakistan have a long-standing cricket rivalry, having faced off seven times in World Cups. India has emerged victorious in all seven instances, including T20 World Cups.

Although, this streak was broken in 2021. India, however, made a remarkable comeback in the 2022 edition, reaffirming their dominance over their arch-rivals.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the largest cricket stadium in the world, with a seating capacity of 132,000 spectators. It is owned by the Gujarat Cricket Association.
