Meta has appointed Vikas Purohit as director of global business group in the social media giant’s India business. The former Tata Cliq CEO will now lead Meta’s strategic relationship with India’s top brands and agencies in the new role.
Purohit will report to Arun Srinivas, director and head of ads business for Meta in India, Meta said in a statement. “I am thrilled to welcome Vikas as he joins our team to shape the role that Meta platforms can play in enabling businesses, supporting India's economic growth, and building the digital advertising ecosystem of the country,” Srinivas said.
Previously, Purohit was at Tata Cliq, where he joined as chief operating officer in 2016, before becoming chief executive officer in 2018. He quit the leading role in October 2022 when he informed Cliq’s board that he will be taking up a new role at a leading multinational corporation in a non-competing sector.
In his new position, Purohit will partner with the media and creative ecosystems in the country for accelerating adoption of digital tools by the largest advertisers and agencies. He will lead Meta’s revenue growth across important sectors as well.
As the global business head in the country, he will have the company's key business vertical teams, agency teams, and business solutions teams reporting into him.
An IIM-Bangalore alumnus, Purohit started his career at Aditya Birla Group before joining Tommy Hilfiger and then heading retail at Reliance Brands. At Amazon India, he played an instrumental role in leading and building Amazon Fashion.
