PM Modi, Gautam Adani, Anand Mahindra Pay Tribute After Ratan Tata's Demise

Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the night of October 9 due to critical health conditions. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. Minutes after he died, condolences started pouring in from people across the country. Among the ones paying tribute were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi, industrialist Gautam Adani and other dignitaries. They admired Tata’s contribution to the nation and remembered the time they spent with the visionary.

Modi took to X, recalling his interactions with Ratan Tata in Gujarat. He said, "My mind is filled with countless interactions with Shri Ratan Tata Ji. I would meet him frequently in Gujarat when I was the CM. We would exchange views on diverse issues. I found his perspectives very enriching.” He said that he is “extremely pained” by his passing away.

While Amit Shah mentioned Ratan Tata’s “selfless dedication” to the development of the country, Rahul Gandhi called him a "man of vision" and said that he has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy.

Shah said,” Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary industrialist and true nationalist, Shri Ratan Tata Ji. He selflessly dedicated his life to the development of our nation. Every time I met him, his zeal and commitment to the betterment of Bharat and its people amazed me.”

The Padma Vibhushan awardee Ratan Tata was also praised by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath who said, "His passing is an irreparable loss to the business world. His entire life was dedicated to the industrial and social development of the nation.”

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh posted on X that Tata was much more than a business icon. BJP veteran LK Advani also mourned the industrialist's death.

We Can Emulate His Example: Anand Mahindra

The chairman of Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra also expressed his emotions on X. He said, “I am unable to accept the absence of Ratan Tata.” Mahindra said that Tata’s life and work have had much to do with his being in the position that he is in right now. Therefore, his mentorship and guidance at this point in time would have been invaluable.

“With him gone, all we can do is to commit to emulating his example. Because he was a businessman for whom financial wealth and success was most useful when it was put to the service of the global community. Goodbye and Godspeed, Mr. T. You will not be forgotten. Because Legends never die,” he added.

Industrialist Gautam Adani also tweeted after Ratan Tata's demise saying that India has lost a giant, a visionary who redefined modern India's path. "Ratan Tata wasn’t just a business leader, he embodied the spirit of India with integrity, compassion and an unwavering commitment to the greater good," he wrote.

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh was also among the ones paying tribute to him and acknowledging his contributions for the nation and so was actor Salman Khan.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran issued a press statement in which he said, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation."

A successful businessman and a greatly loved and admired personality, Ratan Tata was 86-year-old when he died, lying on an ICU bed in Mumbai. He has left behind a legacy of entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
