The Uttar Pradesh government led by Industry Minister Nand Gopal Gupta and Public Works Development Minister Jitin Prasad hosted investor roadshows and invited Swedish business houses to UP Global Investor Summit 2023.
The Swedish business community has shown keen interest in investing in Uttar Pradesh and has shown intent to invest Rs 15,000 crore in the state at Stockholm Investment Roadshow which was held on December 14, UP government said in a press release.
Swedish multinational conglomerate IKEA filed intent to invest Rs 4,300 crore for setting up its retail stores and malls in Noida and other cities, UP government said.
Swedish construction company, Sernekeintends also showed its intent to invest Rs 10,000 crore in the Film City Project in the state.
Luxemburg based, Boson Energy filed intent to invest Rs 1,000 crore for setting up waste to energy project in Uttar Pradesh at the Stockholm Roadshow, the release added.
The event was also attended by UP government official Additional Chief Secretary Navneet Sahgal, Sports & Youth Welfare Secretary, Senthil C. Pandian and Excise Commissioner Pranjal Yadav.
“Uttar Pradesh with a huge population size and pro-active government, is indeed a most promising investment destination in India. If Swedish industrialists want to invest in India, then they should definitely look at Uttar Pradesh. The work done by the state to bring it to the forefront with a supportive business climate is appreciable,” Jan Larrson, President & CEO at Business Sweden said at the Stockholm Roadshow.
“UP is offering the right framework for promoting global investments today, primarily by offering a stable business environment to the investors,” said Robin Sukhia, Secretary General & President of Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC).
Indian Ambassador to Sweden, Tanmay Lal, who was at the event, said that Uttar Pradesh with a huge population size of 250million is at par to being 5th largest country in the world.
“Since UP has emerged as the new investment destination in India with infinite investment opportunities, he urged the Swedish investors to choose UP as their investment destination in India,” he said.
