Digit Insurance Ties Up With Flipkart to Offer Mobile Phone Insurance

The insured will get a 20 per cent of the invoice value if the phone screen gets damaged

Digit Insurance has partnered with India’s largest e-commerce company Flipkart to launch the Mobile Protection Plan for customers who purchase smartphones on the Flipkart platform. The insured will get a pre-decided fixed amount – that is 20 per cent of the invoice value – if the screen of the smart phone is damaged.

Other advantages of the Mobile Protection Plan are:

No depreciation: For claims, invoice value of the phone will be considered, and not the current market value

·No Activation required: The phone is covered from the time it is delivered. No lengthy process or app download is required for activation

·IMEI-linked cover: The phone is covered, no matter who uses it.

(IMEI is an acronym for International Mobile Equipment Identity)

·Worldwide coverage:. It does not matter where the damage occurs

“One of the biggest areas of discontent people have with insurance companies is claims - the effort and the time it takes. We had to work out a product that lives up to it,” says Jasleen Kohli, Chief Distribution Officer, Digit Insurance. “No bills are required in this process which is otherwise a process full of frictions. Also, it makes sense for us as an insurance company, as it reduces our operational costs.”
