Mixed Opening For Sensex, Nifty

Benchmark indices are losing by 182.95 points and 65.50 points, respectively.

Tuesday’s market opened with a downward trend for both the indices. The Sensex fell by 182.95 points or 0.51 per cent to stand at 35,365.31 and the Nifty by 65.50 points or 0.61 per cent to stand at 10,734.35 in the initial hours of trading.

The BSE top gainers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Asian Paints, ONGC, Yes Bank and Kotak Mahindra, while Infosys, Adani Ports, Maruti Suzuki, NTPC and SBI were the major losers, at the time of filing this report.

In the NSE, GAIL, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Bajaj Finance, Lupin and Bharti Airtel were leading the session whereas HPCL, BPCL, Vedanta, Adani Ports and Infosys trailed behind.  

In the commodities sector, the gold indices rose by Rs 86 or 0.28 per cent to stand at Rs 31,060 per 10 grams whereas Brent Crude shed Rs 34 or 0.76 per cent to stand at Rs 4,447 per bbl.

The banking sector drew mixed responses as Axis Bank and SBI lost 3.35 points or 0.64 per cent and 3.80 points or 1.37 per cent, respectively. HDFC Bank rallied by 5.65 points or 0.28 per cent, at the time of going to the press.
