People are often under this misconception that starting the car engine will drain the water from within the car and heating up the engine will solve the issue. However, the fact is that when you start the engine of the car, the water enters some internal parts of the engine thus harming the vehicle. Once the water enters the engine, the pistons of the car stop functioning which further leads to hydro-locking. If your car gets hydro-locked due to your mistake, your insurer may not approve your claim request unless you have an ‘Engine protect Add-on’ in your policy. This is why it is always suggested not to start your vehicle if it is submerged due to floods and rather directly get it towed to the workshop.
