HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company has launched an instant motor claim settlement service for customers via WhatsApp. To provide seamless and quick solutions at the time of claims, the insurer has embedded an AI-enabled inspection technology on its WhatsApp chatbot, which provides customers with an instant motor claim settlement. Technology upgradation for claim settlements is an emerging trend among most insurance providers looking to woo and sustain customers in the ambit of their motor claim settlement policies.

Claim settlement via WhatsApp (HDFC ERGO)

AI Chatbot: HDFC ERGO has embedded an AI-enabled inspection technology on its WhatsApp chatbot which will allow the users to get an instant motor claim settlement.

Damages Cover: Through this feature, the customers can settle claims for minor damages such as dents, scratches, etc.

Sum Insured: The company release states that customers can get claims settled up to Rs 20,000.

“The instant motor claim settlement on WhatsApp will save customers from the hassles of keeping the vehicle non-operational at the workshops for minor damages,” says Parthanil Ghosh, Director and Chief Business Officer, HDFC ERGO General Insurance.

How to register your claim?

Customers can register a claim by visiting HDFC ERGO's official website and following the steps mentioned below:

- Once on the page, customers can connect on HDFC ERGO’s Official WhatsApp number (8169 500 500) self-help portal, or contact customer care.

- After registration, customers will get a link via WhatsApp for digital inspection photo upload and digital claim form to initiate their claim processing.

- Once and if the damages are accepted, the customer will be offered a settlement amount.

- After the acceptance of damages, the claim amount will be transferred to the customer’s account.

Moreover, customers can get their vehicles repaired at per convenience. Other than this, the customers can also visit their nearest garage where a cashless or reimbursement claim process can be followed.

Claim settlement via WhatsApp (ICICI Lombard)

“A host of features are available on the ICICILOMBARD WhatsApp handle (77382 82666) to assist customers with claims, renewal, policy endorsement, product know-how, service request, policy soft copy download, etc. In respect of motor claims, customers can complete the entire end-to-end claim journey on our WhatsApp handle number,” informs Gaurav Arora, Chief UW, Claims Property & Casualty, ICICI Lombard.

Using WhatsApp customers can intimate a claim through their registered mobile or by entering policy number or registered vehicle number.

Customers can then proceed to upload/share claim documents directly through WhatsApp.

“The customer is kept abreast with the latest status through WhatsApp notifications containing claim details and next steps. A detailed assessment copy is also shared with the customer on WhatsApp with options to proceed with the claim or to raise a query. Claims are processed, and then a payment confirmation message is sent to the customer on WhatsApp,” Arora informs.

Customers can raise claims for ‘Own Damage’ on ICICI Lombard's WhatsApp handle. Claims covered on account of accidental impacts can be raised, and the aforementioned process can be completed irrespective of the amount of the claim.

Timestamp for settlement period: Post receipt of all documents the claim gets settled within 3 days for cashless requests and within 7 days for non-cashless/reimbursement requests.

Other Insurance players like Reliance General Insurance, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, Future Generali India Insurance, etc., also provide instant claim settlement via (either) their in-house applications, toll-free numbers, SMS services, and/or through their official websites.
