Gensol-Matrix Consortium Bags India’s First Biomass-To-Green Hydrogen Project

Gensol Engineering, a leader in solar EPC and electric mobility, and Matrix Gas & Renewables, a green hydrogen infrastructure developer, announced on Tuesday that their consortium has emerged as the lowest bidder for India’s first biomass-to-green hydrogen project. The Rs 164 crore initiative will establish a 25 tonnes per day (TPD) bio-waste processing facility capable of producing 1 TPD of green hydrogen. This project represents a critical advancement in India’s energy transition by converting bio-waste into clean hydrogen. 

The consortium will leverage Westinghouse's patented plasma-induced radiant energy-based gasification technology, which has already been successfully deployed in several plants globally. Gensol Engineering has strategically partnered with Westinghouse, USA, to implement this cutting-edge technology in the project.

Gensol and Matrix, both promoted by common stakeholders, will continue to collaborate on green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green steel and green ammonia. The companies plan to harness their respective strengths to advance these initiatives.
