Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announces plans to make artificial intelligence accessible to all Indians, starting with AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, powered entirely by green energy
At the 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, Chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled a bold vision to democratise artificial intelligence (AI) across India. Speaking in Mumbai on Thursday, Ambani outlined plans to build AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, Gujarat, as part of Reliance’s broader mission to ensure AI is available "everywhere for everyone.”
Under this vision, Reliance’s telecom arm Jio aims to provide AI and related services to the Indian populace at affordable prices. To realise this, the company is laying the groundwork for a national AI infrastructure. This includes the establishment of gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, which will be entirely powered by Reliance’s green energy initiatives. Ambani emphasised that this effort would make AI applications in India more affordable than anywhere else in the world.
In line with the 'AI everywhere for everyone' vision, Ambani also announced the Jio ‘AI-Cloud Welcome’ offer, which will provide Jio users with 100 GB of free cloud storage. This offer is set to be launched during the Deepavali festival, marking a significant step in making AI services accessible to a broader audience across the nation.
Ambani’s announcements at the AGM highlight Reliance’s commitment to driving technological innovation and accessibility in India, with AI playing a central role in the company’s future growth strategy.
