The launch of Rufus comes at a time when Amazon prepares for its Great Indian Festive sale, which will commence on September 27, 2024.
Rufus aims to enhance customer experience and streamline the shopping process for the US-based e-commerce giants. It offers natural language conversations within the app, making the customers receive product recommendations, product related queries and compare products.
The company introduced Rufus, on its website to help customers find products more efficiently in February 2024 and launched the beta version in India. It has also reportedly been upgrading its existing products with AI capabilities.
Amazon rolled out a new version of Alexa with improved conversational capabilities, allowing for natural interactions and complex task completion.
To give customers a quick insight into product sentiment and key attributes, Amazon, in addition to Rufus, has reportedly introduced AI-generated review highlights, which use generative AI to provide concise summaries of customer reviews.
Amazon as part of the Great Indian Festival Sale will offer 24-hour early access for Prime members. It will reportedly offer 25,000 new products across various categories including electronics, mobile phones, TVs, appliances, fashion, and healthcare.
Saurabh Srivastava, vice president, of categories at Amazon India, said customers can enjoy a more intuitive shopping experience, whether speaking or typing, enhanced by AI-powered tools like personalised recommendations and Alexa for seamless shopping assistance, as per Business Standard.
Amazon has recently launched three new fulfilment centres in Delhi NCR, Guwahati, and Patna to support its growing operations and prepare for its festive season. These centres will help facilitate over 2.5 lakh sellers in the region and offer a combined storage space of 1.2 million cubic feet.
