The upcoming iPhone 15 has its debut scheduled on September 12 and is going to bring a significant change or can say will take Apple’s flagship product back in time. After 11 years, Apple will be shifting back to the USB-C charging facility from its current lightning port facility through the new iPhone 15 model. The revision comes following the European Union’s direction to companies to adapt USB-C for their charging facility.
The legislators of the European Union have argued that if more devices would share a uniform standard for cables and charging bricks then it will lead to reduction of e-waste.
For its comfort, Apple has decided not to limit the change to its European units but to adapt it fully.
It was with its iPhone 5 model in 2012, that Apple switched to the lightning port, much to the dismay of the users. Those users who also used an Android device found it inconvenient to carry a separate charger after the change.
In another disappointing move for its customers, Apple also removed the headphone jack in 2016 which added to the frustration. But, disappointments of both the changes were mitigated by Apple’s brand value and customer loyalty.
Now that the smartphone giant has bend its knees to the law of the land, those interested in the matter wonder how Apple will present the change at the launch. Considering Apple’s heavy marketing tactics in the past, people are betting on the company’s complete ignorance of the actual reason behind the change.
Last year, Apple’s marketing boss Greg Joswiak had expressed disdain on governments’ intervention in product making decisions. However, market experts see Apple hiding any kind of disapproval they have of the regulation while launching their flagship product next week. The company is likely to present the change as a customer pleasing revision.
The new iPhone 15 will be coming in four different variants – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max – like its predecessor.
