The first phase of elections has already started in the world's largest democracy, India. The Election Commission does put a cap on how much candidates can spend on their election campaigns but there's no such limit for political parties. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA-led BJP spent a whopping Rs 755 crore on general party promotion alone. Meanwhile, Congress threw down Rs 488 crore on their own campaigns.
