Qualcomm unveiled a chip on Tuesday for laptops running Microsoft Windows and said it could perform some tasks better than Apple's Mac processors, according to Reuters.
Executives from Qualcomm emphasised the expanded features of the next Snapdragon Elite X CPU, which will be available in 2024.
According to reports, this chip has been redesigned to improve its
performance in artificial intelligence activities including email summarization, text production, and image rendering.

This information was made public in response to a recent Reuters article that said Microsoft had encouraged Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Advanced Micro Devices to create new chips that might support a variety of cutting-edge AI functions in Windows, the most popular PC operating system in the world.
Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, said in a video at the Qualcomm event that these processors would encourage the creation of a new era of "AI PCs" designed for both business and consumer use.
Nadella emphasised that by working together, they will be able to mix experiences that were previously out of reach since a new system design was required.

According to Qualcomm, its X Elite chip outperforms Apple's M2 Max chip in some tasks and uses less energy than both Apple and Intel PC chips.
The chip's ability to efficiently analyse artificial intelligence models with 13 billion parameters stands out as its most important feature, according to Qualcomm Senior Vice President Alex Katouzian.
This parameter count is used as a stand-in metric to gauge the level of sophistication of AI systems that produce text or graphics.
Francis Sideco, an analyst at TIRIAS Research, predicts that the demand for laptops with AI capabilities will rise as a result of the advent of AI-powered picture generation by businesses like Adobe, encompassing applications from real estate brochures to beer can labels.
