Go First May Restart Flights From May 24 After Repeated Cancellations: Report

Go First airlines cancelled all flights till May 19, 2023 as it awaited a verdict from the NCLT on its voluntary insolvency proceedings

Amid insolvency crisis, Go First may reportedly restart its flights from May 24, 2023. As per a report, the low cost airline has chalked out a plan as per which it may restart its operations with limited number of aircrafts.

According to a report in the Economic Times, Go First may restart its operations with 23 aircrafts and at a smaller scale. The development comes after Go First airlines cancelled all flights till May 19, 2023 as it awaited the verdict from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). 

“The airline has 27 aircraft which were operating till May 2. It has 51 and 37 departure slots at the main airports of Delhi and Mumbai. There is a plan to resume operation as early as possible but it will be with a truncated schedule,” ET quoted a source as saying.

In addition to this, Go First has also reportedly discussed resumption plans with the government. For this, it may hold a meeting soon and then proceed to approach the government in order to resume bookings for customers. 

The NCLT order on May 10 accepted the admission of Go First’s insolvency proceedings. It also directed the airlines to not lay off any employees. NCLT Delhi, in its order, also granted Go First protection under moratorium from recovery by lessors and lenders.

As far as Pratt & Whitney go, as per media reports, it is following its own legal course against Go First allegations.
