As part of its "change India project" to 10 crore homes with broadband in the next several years, Reliance Jio Infocomm is aiming for an annual revenue opportunity of Rs 70,000 crore, a senior company executive told ET.
The telecom operator's efforts to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) and monetize 5G services will centre around this.
While fibre is still a valuable tool, reaching the target will depend on AirFiber, the company's fixed wireless access (FWA) service. With a few supply chain snags aside, the CEO stated, "AirFiber will reach us to those 100 million homes in the coming couple of years," and the company is on schedule to meet its target.

“For us, it’s a ‘change India’ project. Once we get into those 100 million homes, it will allow us the ability to offer ‘n’ number of services on top of that like education, entertainment, etc.,” the official added.
Jio, the Reliance Industries telecom division, debuted JioAirFiber in September 2023 in eight cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
It is anticipated that JioAirFiber will cover all of India in the upcoming months. The solution, according to the company, will assist in overcoming last-mile connectivity issues and give TV and broadband subscribers the chance to upgrade to top-notch entertainment, broadband, and digital experiences at significantly lower costs. In August, rival Bharti Airtel introduced Airtel Xstream Air Fibre, a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service.

“Assuming a Rs 600 monthly average revenue per user, AirFiber is a big 5G monetisation opportunity for us,” the executive said.
Jio said that their FWA service will make 20 crore homes connectable in the next 3 years.
