Namma Yatri Kicks Off With Auto and Cab Rental Service: Report

Namma Yatri, the ride-hailing service, commenced with its cab and auto rentals as it hopes to attract a larger customer base and take on its counterparts Ola and Uber, as per media reports.

With the deployment of its services, Namma Yatri will be the first to offer auto rentals in the country.

So far, select users in Bengaluru can avail cab and auto rentals, whereas users in Chennai can only avail cab services. The company is hoping to offer its services to the people of Delhi in about a fortnight, as per sources cited in a report by Moneycontrol.

Initially starting out as a auto rental service company, subsequently venturing into cab services in Bengaluru in April this year.

Unlike Ola and Uber which takes a 30-40 per cent commission, Namma Yatri’s main traction is its zero commission charged as a subscription fee from its drivers to sustain its no commission.

Drivers can either pay Rs 25 for unlimited trips or Rs 3.50 per ride (no charges after 10 trips), as per a report by Moneycontrol.

The app is built on ONDC network and Google Maps, which help in navigating public transport system in the country. Namma Yatri offers customer auto-rentals at Rs 190 for a 10-kilometer ride of 1 hour.

If the distance exceeds 10 kilometres and an hour, the users would be charged for the additional distance ranging between Rs 10 to Rs 21 per kilometre depending on the vehicle type along with a flat usage fare of Rs 3 per minute.

For night rides, Namma Yatri will charge a flat fee of Rs 250 if the ride starts or ends anytime between 10pm and 5am. Toll charges and other surcharges will be separate. 

Overall, the Namma Yatri family of apps constitute over 2.1 lakh drivers and 50 lakh customers. It claims to be among the prominent players in several cities namely Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hyderabad and Kolkata as per a report by Inc42.
