Ratan Tata's Rs 10,000-crore Will Mentions Shantanu Naidu's Name

The business tycoon has given up his stake in The Goodfellows and waived Naidu’s overseas education expenses

Late industrialist Ratan Tata’s Rs 10,000-crore will mentioned Shantanu Naidu’s name, according to a report by Times of India. Naidu is the founder of an elderly care start-up The Goodfellows and Tata’s close associate. 

The business tycoon has given up his stake in The Goodfellows and waived Naidu’s overseas education expenses as per the report.

He also bequeathed assets to his foundation, brother Jimmy Tata, half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, house staff and others.  

His assets include a 2,000 sqft beach bungalow in Alibaug, a 2-storey house on Juhu Tara Road in Mumbai, fixed deposits exceeding Rs 350 crore and a 0.83 per cent stake in Tata Sons, which will be transferred to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation.

Ratan Tata has also made provisions to provide for his pet dog named Tito to ensure 'unlimited care' was provided to him after his death, reported ToI.

Philanthropic Efforts

At the age of 86, Ratan Tata passed away on October 9, 2024, after being admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. His influence extended beyond business. 

He was ranked 433 in the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2021. His foundation Tata Trusts has taken several measures to provide scholarships to students and support projects related to healthcare, education, rural development and sustainable living.

He donated Rs 500 crore when the world was fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also donated $50mn to his alma mater, Harvard Business School for building an executive center. In addition to it, Kolkata’s Tata Medical Center and several educational initiatives show his dedication to improving the quality of life for underserved communities. 

In the aftermath of the deadly 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Tata founded the “Taj Public Service Welfare Trust” to support the victims and their families get rehabilitated. 

Tata’s philanthropic efforts have earned him numerous praises. Ratan Tata’s humility and approachable demeanor made him a beloved figure across generations.
