Reliance Jio will launch the Jio AirFiber device today, 19 September 2023 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The company has promised an impressive speed of up to 1.5 Gbps, depending on the location, making it suitable for activities like high-definition video streaming, online gaming, and lag-free video conferencing.
The launch on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi was announced by Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, during the 2023 Annual General Meeting on 28 August.
Jio AirFiber offers features like parental controls, support for WiFi 6, and an integrated security firewall.
Here’s all you need to know about the Jio AirFiber:
Jio AirFiber is a new wireless internet device that uses 5G technology to provide high-speed internet. It works as a plug-and-play 5G broadband router introduced by Reliance Jio, which means that users won’t need any wiring or cable installations for Jio Fiber specifically.

"Jio AirFiber uses our pan-India 5G network and advanced wireless technologies to bypass the need for last-mile fibre. Through optical fibre, we can currently connect around 15,000 premises daily. But with Jio AirFiber, we can supercharge this expansion with up to 150,000 connections per day," Ambani said during the AGM.
Unlike Jio Fiber, AirFiber will not have physical infrastructure limitations such as optical fibres and will be able to provide broader coverage. The AirFiber is also likely to surpass the 1 Gbps speeds offered by Jio Fiber.
The device lays the groundwork for Jio’s Smart Home Solutions, including the Jio Home Router, the Jio Set-top box, and the Jio Home smartphone app.

According to Jio’s website, AirFiber is capable of delivering "fibre-like speed over the air without any wires".
The Jio AirFiber Service is expected to be affordable, with an estimated cost of around Rs 6,000. However, due to the addition of a portable device unit, it may be slightly more expensive than a conventional broadband connection.
