The most ambitious project among these is the joint venture between Foxconn and billionaire Anil Agarwal’s Vedanta. Named Vedanta Foxconn Semiconductors Limited (VFSL), this venture aimed to develop a 28 nm semiconductor foundry. However, VFSL faced challenges in acquiring the necessary ready-to-manufacture technology for the project. Despite this, the joint venture had secured investments totaling approximately $19.5 billion in Gujarat.
