The Assam government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Flipkart and other tech companies to provide job opportunities to the youth in the state. This collaboration aims to develop MSMEs in the state by providing more comprehensive access to help them successfully commercialise their products. A government official stated that these initiatives would also help rural students to gain better employment opportunities in the organised sector.
As per the agreement between Flipkart and the Assam Skill Development Mission, the former will train, certify and create a pool of e-commerce supply chain talent under its Flipkart Supply Chain Operations Academy. The eligible youth will get an opportunity to get on-the-job training at Flipkart along with a stipend of Rs 17,500 during the training period.

PTI reported that the state government has also joined hands with HCL Technologies and Walmart to skill the locals and export indigenous products. The MoU between the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT) and HCL will facilitate the employability of youths of Assam under various programmes. The tech company will train students who have cleared their Class 12 exams to reduce the regional imbalance in skilled people.
The Assam Skill University (ASU) signed another MoU with HCL Training & Staffing Services (HCL-TSS) to help aspirants join the latter's skilling and employment programmes. It will provide mutual support for counselling and assess eligible candidates on a campus designated by ASU.

The Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department and Skill Employment Entrepreneurship Department also signed a partnership agreement with Walmart. The retail company launched the Walmart Vriddhi programme to help MSMEs to expand their domestic capacities and participate in global supply chains in association with the Swasti Society.
Jayanta Mallabaruah, Minister for Assam Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Minister, presided over the signing of these MoUs in the presence of Subbaraman Balasubramanyan, vice president of HCL Technologies, Akash Misra, director of Flipkart and Amarnath Sharma, head of Swasti Operations.
While announcing these associations, he said, "Assam has a huge potential in terms of MSMEs, and the government of Assam is working diligently to make the MSME sector of the state a supreme one." He also added that the state is exploring various avenues to "implement the concept of 'Ease of Living' by providing adequate employment opportunities."
