Mumbai-based dessert brand Get-A-Whey has raised $2 million in funding in a round led by Sky Gate Hospitality, the parent company of Biryani By Kilo (BBK). Prior to this investment, Jimmy, Jash and Pashmi Shah-led company bagged an investment of Rs 1 crore in exchange for 15 per cent equity from multiple investors including Ashneer Grover, former MD and co-founder of BharatPe, Aman Gupta, CMO and co-founder, boAt and Vineeta Singh, CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics in the first season of the popular reality show Shark Tank India.  

The company will utilise the prospects of this investment round in hiring skilled staff and expanding manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, the company wants to diversify its product portfolio and create a robust sales channel.

The deal with BBK will also benefit it with access to more than 1000 cloud kitchens in over 45 cities. 

Talking about the capital infusion, Jash Shah, the co-founder and CEO of Get-A-Whey, said, “We are thrilled to have partnered with Biryani by Kilo who also believes strongly in product innovation & consumer-centric approach. These funds will enable us to innovate in terms of product, build an extremely agile distribution and create brand awareness.”

This strategic partnership extends Get-A-Whey ice cream and dessert assortment to BBK in more than 100 outlets distribution channels and will diversify the brand's retail footprint too.”  Kaushik Roy, the founder and CEO of BBK added while addressing their decision to invest in Get-A-Whey.

Since its inception in 2018, Get-A-Whey clocked Rs 5 crore in revenues, a Forbes India report pointed out. The company has global ambitions and it wants to launch its operations into new territories in the Middle East.
