The police and transport department officials in Karnataka have decided to take cognizance of the alleged inflated fares charged by autorickshaws.

As per a report in The Economic Times, both departments are planning to launch a joint operation against Uber, Old and Rapido on their autorickshaw ride-hailing services in order to protect customers.

As per the report, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said he would be holding a meeting with top police and transport department officials on Wednesday.

The main agenda of this meeting will be to discuss ways to regulate the operations of platform based ride aggregators.

Recently, several complaints were filed by the people that their autorickshaw fares were inflated and not as per the ones mandated by the government.

These complaints also resulted in authorities asking these companies and auto drivers to stop their operations. Hence, a meeting has now been planned to address the public’s need and find a solution to this problem.

The Home Minister also said the aggregators operating these autorickshaws were doing so with disregard and were not following government’s orders. Hence, the government reportedly decided to intervene and prevent loopholes, if any in the system.
