A book that’s had a real impact on me is Gandhi’s autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth. It really humanises Gandhi, talking about the choices he made and how he struggled in his formative years.
There’s an artist by the name of MC Escher who creates visual paradoxes through sketches and sculptures. He captures almost impossible worlds on paper, an example of which is a lithograph called Waterfall.
If I had to pick a favourite trip, it would be the one I took with my family to Machu Picchu in Peru. The first glimpse of the ruins after you hike up the Inca trail is unforgettable.
Spanish tapas and sushi are some of my favourites, but my all-time favourite would be the North West Frontier cuisine. I love kebabs, slow-cooked lamb, tandoori dishes, rotis, pickled onions and kaali dal.
After a long week, I enjoy relaxing with a glass of single malt Scotch. My tastes have changed over the years but I like something that is peaty and smoky, like a Mortlach or a Lagavulin.
