While the season of mass layoffs is here, affecting many sectors and companies, how can media houses be left out. As per latest reports, US media giants have been adversely impacted with the recent layoffs. After CNN sacked some employees, now layoffs have hit Vox Media, Buzzfeed, the Washington Post and others.

As per an AFP report, Vox Media layoffs have started. The media house has mentioned that it would let go of almost seven per cent of its staff. While mass layoffs have been a trend over the last couple of months, even media houses now, have reasoned these job cuts to the challenging economic environment.

In addition to this, media reports suggest that Buzzfeed layoffs are also expected to impact around 12 per cent employees in the targeted sales, technology, production and content teams. These reports also add that apart from worsening economic condition, the CEO has said that these layoffs are also due to the changes in how people consume media.

Since US media giants have largely been impacted by layoffs, some more popular names are also facing the brunt. As per a CNN report, NBC News and MSNBC also laid off employees in double digits and most likely around 75 people. While the Washington Post did not confirm a definite number of employees to be laid off, some reports suggest that official updates are awaited.
