Just days after the Twitter-BBC fiasco broke out over the ‘government-funded media’ label, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now taken a dig at Canadian Broadcasting Corp (CBC). In a viral tweet, Elon Musk has posted a snippet of CBC’s Twitter homepage with the new label given to the media house.

According to CBC’s page, Twitter has given CBC a label that mentions ‘69% Government-funded media.’ While a first glance at it may confuse many, Elon Musk’s viral tweet clarifies it all.

In response to CBC’s 69% government-funded media label, Elon Musk tweeted, “Canadian Broadcasting Corp said they’re ‘less than 70% government-funded’, so we corrected the label.”

While Elon Musk’s dig at CBC has left many in splits, others are wondering that what is exactly happening at the social media giant. Even as a retaliation to the new fiasco, CBC retweeted CBC/Radio-Canada’s tweets that read, “(2/3) CBC/Radio-Canada is publicly funded through a parliamentary appropriation that is voted upon by all Members of Parliament. Its editorial independence is protected in law in the Broadcasting Act, as we said in our statement from last week…… Our journalism is impartial and independent. To suggest otherwise is untrue. That is why we are pausing our activities on @Twitter.”

Elon Musk’s latest moves with Twitter have brought the social media giant under scanner as while many are enjoying what is happening, others are left confused.
