Air India Offers Voluntary Retirement Till April 30

Air India has announced its second voluntary retirement offer for its non-flying personnel. The offer extends its service to permanent general cadre officer above the age of 40 and to clerical and unskilled employees who have completed the minimum consecutive time frame of five years with the carrier. Employees can avail the offer from 17th March 2023 to 30th April 2023.

According to Press Trust of India (PTI), close to 2,100 employees can take the benefit of the second round of voluntary retirement.  The first round was announced in June 2022. Air India has 11,000 personnel which includes both flying and non-flying staff.

Air India’s chief human resource officer Suresh Dutt Tripathi said in a statement, “The employees who apply for voluntary retirement from 17th March 2023 to 30th April 2023 will also be provided with an ex-gratia amount as a one-time benefit. Eligible employees who apply up to 31st March 2023 will receive Rs 1 lakh over and above the ex-gratia amount.” The first legs of the offer covered both flying and non-flying staff, and close to 4,200 employees were eligible for the offer. However, only 1,500 people actually availed the offer.

The plan also included strategies such as improving reliability and on-time performance of the airline along with making the carrier leader in technology, sustainability and innovation. Additionally, it also focused on expanding the fleet and its network.
