The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly released the tender for national team lead sponsorship rights. As per updates, the BBCI has also set Rs 350 crore as the base price for the same.

According to a report in the Economic Times, the base price for bilateral matches featuring India has been set at Rs 3 crore per match. As far as International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments go, the base price has been set at Rs 1 crore per match.

BBCI reportedly released the tender for lead sponsorship on June 14, 2023 and as of now, the tender document is available for purchase till June 26, 2023.

The report adds that the base price is less than the amount paid by Byju’s which was also the lead sponsor till March as per BCCI’s records. Till then, BYJU’s was reportedly paying Rs 5.07 crore per match for domestic matches that featured Team India and Rs 1.56 crore per match for all ICC and ACC tournaments.

“BCCI has set a realistic base price for the lead sponsor rights. The ad market is tough, and the new-age sponsors who were spending large sums of money on cricket have cut their marketing budgets drastically due to the funding winter,” the publication quoted a source as saying.

For quite some time now, BCCI has also barred betting, crypto-currency, tobacco and real-money gaming companies too from bidding for the lead sponsor, the report added.
