ChatGPT, a chatbot that uses generative AI, can now access the latest information available over the internet.
The chatbot owned by Microsoft backed OpenAI was previously trained only using data up to September 2021.
With this move, premium users of ChatGPT will be able to questions about current affairs, and access news items.
The new feature is currently only available to ChatGPT's Plus and Enterprise users via GPT-4 but the company promises to bring the latest web browsing abilities of ChatGPT to all its users.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman took to the platform X and wrote, “we are so back" with regard to ChatGPT's revival of browsing capability.

ChatGPT's rivals like Bing and Google's Bard already had browsing abilities. Now ChatGPT will be access the web through an extension called ‘Browser with Bing’.
Up until now, ChatGPT's knowledge had been restricted to September 2021, meaning it would just not be able to give answers about real time events or events that occurred after that date.
The chatbot would reply with an "I'm sorry, but I cannot provide real-time information" answer when asked about anything current. This inability was also a turn off for many of its users who wanted to use ChatGPT's features with the most recent information.
