MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) accounts for 8 per cent of the country's, 45 per cent of total manufacturing output and 40 per cent of India's exports. India's merchandise exports rose by 9 per cent to USD 332.76 billion during April-December 2022.
ODOP is an initiative of the government to promote exports and manufacturing or production of unique products from all the districts of the country.

Speaking at the event, Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Anurag Jain said that the government is promoting GI (Geographical indications) products.

A GI is primarily an agricultural, natural or a manufactured product (handicraft and industrial goods) originating from a definite geographical territory.
