Billionaire Elon Musk-led Twitter has removed ‘legacy blue ticks’ of most account holders – business personalities, celebrities, officials etc., alike. As announced by the SpaceX and Tesla CEO, as of April 20, 2023, all those who did not subscribe to Twitter Blue and pay for the subscription, have lost their Twitter verification blue badge.

While it is not clear if all ‘legacy Twitter verified’ accounts have lost their blue ticks or not, it is certain that the social media platform has started the process of removing the verified badge. However, all those who have subscribed to Twitter Blue subscription, are reportedly receiving the message that reads, “This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.”
