In order to support the Make in India campaign, HP and Google have established a partnership with Google to manufacture Chromebooks in India.
According to a press release, this partnership aims to advance a shared goal of improving the state of digital education in India, providing educational authorities, schools, and institutions with cost-effective, secure, and high-quality computing devices, and enabling more students to improve their educational experiences.
The Flex Facility, close to Chennai, where HP has been producing various laptops and desktops since August 2020, will produce the Chromebook devices. On October 2, 2023, HP Chromebooks will start to be produced.
