Google layoffs 2023 don’t seem to end. This time, as per a report, the Sundar Pichai-led Google has fired contract workers that support YouTube services.

According to Business Insider, this round of Google layoffs of contract workers, have mostly impacted those working for Cognizant and Accenture for Google. The contract workers impacted by these job cuts reportedly mainly support YouTube TV and YouTube’s social media accounts.

However, as far as the locations of these Google layoffs go, contract workers mainly in Austin are expected to be impacted. The report adds that Cognizant workers started hearing about Google-related job cuts at the very start of May, “with effective end dates ranging from May 31 to the end of July.”

As far as Cognizant goes, it is unclear how many contract workers of Google may lose their jobs. However, the report mentions that at Accenture, roughly 120-150 workers may lose their positions to this round of job cuts.

Google layoffs 2023 for contract workers supporting YouTube reportedly come shortly after a group of Cognizant workers supporting YouTube Music voted 41-0 in favour of unionizing with the Alphabet Workers Union. The latter is affiliated with the Communications Workers of America, a larger trade union.

In addition to this, the publication has affirmed that Cognizant has confirmed in an email that its contract supporting YouTube TV is ending.
