In the latest development in the Hindenburg vs Adani case, the Supreme Court has reportedly agreed to hear a plea seeking probe into the Hindenburg Research report tomorrow, on Friday. As per latest updates, the plea is seeking a direction to the Centre to constitute a committee monitored by a retired apex court judget to investigate the Hindenburg Research report.

According to the Economic Times, the setting up of this committee has been sought as the Hindenburg Research report has made a slew of allegations against the Guatam Adani-led Adani Group, especially that the conglomerate has indulged in fraud. It adds that Advocate Vishal Tiwari, who filed the petition asked for the listing of the matter for urgent hearing before a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.

The report also added that the Advocate on record told the Bench that another plea related to the Adani vs Hindenburg issue was listed for hearing on February 10, 2023. Hence, an urgent hearing on the same was sought. 

In addition to this, as per the report, the Advocate, in his public interest litigation (PIL) also sought directions to set up a special committee to oversee the sanction policy for loans of over Rs 500 crore given to big corporates. It adds that last week, another PIL was filed seeking prosecution of the short seller Nathan Anderson related to the firm Hindenburg Research.

The Adani Group and Hindenburg Research report have jointly dominated the headlines over the last couple of weeks since the latter alleged fraud by the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate. Ever since the report came out, even Adani Group stocks took a massive beating at the Indian boruses as many engaged in a selling spree. However, as of yesterday, the stocks did recover a bit only to fall today morning again.
