Stock market and bank holiday today: On account of Mahavir Jayanti, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed today. Apart from the Indian bourses, as per updates, in some parts of the country, there is even a bank holiday today, on April 4, 2023.
Everyone must note that as far as the stock market holiday is concerned, all trading activity on both NSE and BSE will resume tomorrow, on April 5, 2023. Wholesale commodity markets, including both metal and bullion will remain closed and even trading in forex and commodity futures will remain shut.

Coming to banks, as mentioned before, in some places, today is a bank holiday on account of Mahavir Jayanti. Please note that in several states, both public and private banks are closed today as April 4, 2023 is mentioned as a holiday in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI’s) official bank holiday list.
From what is known so far, today, banks are closed in Aizwal, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Nagpur, New Delhi, Mumbai, Raipur, Ranchi, Bangaluru, Ahmedabad etc. Everyone is advised to check with their local branch in order to confirm if the bank is closed today or not.
Please note that the next bank holiday and market holiday – both will coincide once again on April 7, 2023. This would be on account of Good Friday.
