Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his eleventh consecutive Independence Day address on Thursday, marking his first speech since securing a third consecutive term in office.

After Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira Gandhi, PM Modi is now the third prime minister who has addressed the nation on 11 consecutive Independence Days.

Nehru delivered 17 consecutive Independence Day speeches. His daughter, Indira Gandhi, who served as prime minister from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 to October 1984, delivered the address 16 times, with 11 of those being consecutive.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, also greeted the people of the country on the occasion of India's 78th Independence Day.

"Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!," Modi said in a post on X in English and Hindi.

The Indian contingent that took part in the Paris Olympics, students benefiting from the Atal Innovation Mission, workers of the Border Roads Organisation and sarpanches of the gram panchayats are among the 6,000 special guests invited to the 78th Independence Day celebrations here.
