IndiGo will restart its operations from Terminal 1 (T1) at Indira Gandhi International, Delhi, from September 2 onwards. This will be the first time after the roof collapse at T1 that the airline will resume its services.
“Proactive measures have been taken to ensure that passengers are well-informed about this transition. Domestic flights with flight numbers 2000-2999 will operate from Terminal 2, and flight numbers 5000-5999 will operate from Terminal 3, and the rest of the flights will operate from Terminal 1,” said the airline in a release.
The announcement by the airline comes after the Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) comprehensive renovation under its Phase 3A expansion project. Starting from September 2, the airline will operate 35 daily departures from T1. Additionally, the airline has reorganized its operations; apart from domestic flights numbered 2000-2999 and 5000-5999, all other flights will operate from T1.

The flights numbered 2000-2999 will continue their operations from T2, while flights numbered 5000-5999 will operate from T3.
After the unfortunate roof collapse incident in June that led to the death of one cab driver, the Delhi airport terminal 1 operations were discontinued. The flights of IndiGo thereafter were suspended from T1. All its arrivals and departures were shifted to T2 and T3.
Following the collapse, the ministry of civil aviation asked engineers from IIT Delhi to assess the structure of the T1.
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), operated by DIAL, operates three terminals: T1, T2, and T3. The restarting of T1 and resumption of operations by IndiGo will help in optimizing the increased flow at IGI airport. Additionally, the reopening of T1 will help to position the airport as a “Future-Ready” travel hub.
